The game interface is straightforward and simple. The game is played entirely with the mouse in the case of the PC version. The cursor is contextual, meaning that it will change automatically to actions such as "Talk to..", "Pick up.." and so on, depending on the object (and state of the object) the player is hovering over at the time. There's also the possibility to toggle item labels at any moment, which makes the game considerably easier, but it can prove useful if the player gets stuck at a certain point.
Much like the author's previous titles, the game itself is divided by chapters (whereas in the Gabriel Knight series, it'd be divided by days). Each chapter involves certain objectives requiring to be completed to progress the story. At any given time, the player can check his/her progress in the current chapter. In addition, other actions can lead to the fulfillment of bonus objectives, which exist for every chapter, but are not required to advance the main story.
